Friday the 13th of August
Ironmen, young men (above) and a fisherman and a whole lot of other stand-ins for the Little Mermaid statue stood in for her on the infamous friday 13th that seemed grey at start, but soon after a visit from the first booked mermaids changed the mood on peoples faces in downtown Copenhagen.
Dora Jesus, Joana Caldeirão, David Caldeirão, Alexandre Feliz, Inês Bernardo, Miguel Feliz, Maria José and João Feliz shared the first two slots amongst each other. Fathers David and Miguel took a break off from preparing themselves for the Copenhagen Challenge (Ironman Triatlon) Sunday the 15th. We later checked their times and amazingly each crossed the finishing line after respectfully pulling themselves 9 and 10 hours through the course
Then mermaid Søren Kirkegaard arrived disguised as a fisherman – with a model statue of the Little Mermaid as bait! Not long did the smaller version float till passers-by started to show interest and eventually take the bait – carefully extending a palm and having a friend take their photograph with the statue in their hand. However we unfortunately never got that gesture documented properly, so perhaps Søren will make a reappearance soon – perhaps next time it rains?
Last, but not least, lovely Line Hampen Olsen followed her sister Dorte Hampen and niece Johanne Hampen with boyfriend Stefan Bergdal. Line gave an entertaining exercise in how to attract more attention from passers-by wandering around in their own minds. Addressing people on the street in a direct manner is very difficult when you have a 20 page long story you want to tell and your movements are confined to a rock!

That was really an awesome experience I had… That always been in my dream to be ”mermaid” when I was kid
)
))) I will never forget that day!
Dream came true !!! Thanks for that

Hello Jens
It was a very amusing morning, we all had a great time.
Ironmen fathers (David and Alexander) made a small training to get Nyhavn in time … and see the results
Thanks for this experience, hope to see you one of these years in Portugal,
Dora
